8 days : Northern salines
(example below for Maya north &endash; a similar itinerary can be organised for Lokoué saline)

Mboko camp
D1 : Arrival at M'boko, from Makokou (9 hours by 4 wheel drive vehicle) or from Brazzaville (if charter is available). Night at M'boko Lodge.

D2 : whole day around M'boko exploring the savannah and the nearby salines of Lango and M'bouebé. Night at M'boko camp in double tent.

D3 : M'boko-Ekania (9 hours by motorised dug-out canoe) : op the Mambili river up to Ekania Camp with a team of trackers, guides and boatmen. The ride provides a wonderful opportunity of wildlife observation. Visit the Moba saline on the way. Night at Ekania tented camp.

D4 : Ekania-Maya (1hour by boat + 3 hours walk). By boat, we approach the area of the 3 Maya salines. Then on foot along on a good forest trail (old elephant trails) passing by Maya south, Maya centre arriving finally at Maya north. Night at Maya tented camp.

D5 : Maya north saline : excellent wildlife viewing from a hide on the edge of the saline. Night at Maya tented camp.

D6 : Maya-Ekania (3 hr walk + 1hr boat). Visit Capitale or Koukoua salines by boat. Night at Ekania tented camp.

D7 : Ekania-M'boko (9 hrs by boat). Night at M'boko Lodge.

D8 : Departure.

5 days : Lossi, Gorilla Sanctuary

D1 : Arrival at M'boko, from Makokou or from Brazzaville. Night at M'boko Lodge.

D2 : M'boko-Lossi (4 hrs by vehicle + 6 hr walk) : night at Lossi camp.

D3 & D4 : Lossi : gorilla tracking : with a group of maximum 4 people. Two gorilla families have been habituated to human presence. The undergrowth is very thick and, making as little noise as possible, much patience and perseverance is needed to track the gorillas. But the patient visitor is rewarded with excellent and unique views of lowland gorillas. Nights at Lossi camp.

D5 : Lossi-M'boko (a 6hr walk + 4 hrs by vehicle). Night at M'boko Lodge.

11 days : Northern salines and Lossi

D2 : Whole day around M'boko exploring the savannah and the nearby salines of Lango and M'bouebé. Night at M'boko camp in double tent.

D3 : M'boko-Ekania (9 hours by boat). Stop-off to visit Moba saline on the way. Night at Ekania tented camp.

D11 : Lossi-M'boko (a 6hr walk + 4 hrs by vehicle). Night at M'boko Lodge.

The programm may have to be changed at short notice for security, weather or other reasons. The ECOFAC staff and the local guides will always do their utmost to find the best option, even ir it means changing the routing. When discovering other cultures and mentalities a sense of tolerance and mutual respect is important.
